Tonight was my first evening in a while that I’ve actually had time to spend at home. Recently, my nights have been busy with meetings, running, and lots of other random things. Tonight, however, I decided that I needed to make a to-do list and start working on checking things off. I’m proud to say I’ve checked off 3 things so far. Only 7 to go. It would have been more, but the computer distracted me. Hopefully it will all be checked off by the end of the weekend.
There are a few new things going on in the Stochel household. First (which is one of the reasons I’ve been really busy lately) is that I was elected as one of the Chief Residents for the next year. Out of the 9 people in my resident class, 5 people ran for the position, and 2 of us were chosen by our fellow residents and the faculty. I’m honored to have been chosen. It is a lot of work — from making ALL the rotation and call schedules for all the residents to attending faculty meetings and conferences to a whole lot of other things — but it’s something I really wanted to do. And it doesn’t hurt to get a little extra on my paycheck either!
My dad and I are busy training for the Mini-Marathon. Prior to beginning our training, I had never run more than 3 miles in a row. Now, that’s a pretty easy task! Our longest run that we’ve done has been 6.5miles, so we still have a little ways to go. With the winter weather lingering around, it’s been more difficult to do our training outside, and I don’t think I could run more than 6.5 miles on a treadmill. Even that was painful – running that far and not getting anywhere is a little tedious! The race is on May 7, so only a little over a month to go! I did use some of my birthday money on a new toy (the green one) to help me train. I’m waiting for some warmer weekend weather so I can go for a nice long run!
I also have another new toy coming in the mail. It’s currently in Anchorage, Alaska. I ordered it at 7am on March 11 (they went on sale at 4am that day), and I’ve been anxiously waiting on its arrival since then. A little impatient, I know. I was tempted to get one back in December before Christmas, but decided to wait on the next version to come out. I’m usually a pretty patient person (especially compared to my better half), but over 2 weeks is too much.
Maybe having an iPad will make it easier for me to be a better blogger?!??
