Can we go back to the weekend???

{I meant to post this yesterday, but I was distracted by the Bachelor Pad so I was never able to complete it....oops.} :)

This weekend was great. Nothing too special happened, but it was wonderful. I think a big part of that was the weather....low 80s, sunny, not too humid....awesome. Can it stay like that everyday?

Friday: After wrapping up the last few notes from a busy day in clinic, I booked it home, freshened up a bit, then went out to dinner with some of the girls from my residency program. There are 17 of us total, and 8 were able to make it out to dinner...not too bad when you consider all the crazy schedules us residents have. We went to Naked Tchopstix for some sushi, and I was excited to finally try it after hearing so many good things about it. It was definitely good, but I can't say that it totally knocked my socks off. I'll go back, but it's not going to become my new favorite restaurant.

Saturday: aka A Busy Day! I got up at the crack of dawn to run another 5k with my dad. It had been awhile since my last one, so even though I had to get up at 6am, I was excited.  This one was the Great Greek 5k at one of the local Greek Orthodox churches. My dad and I were enticed to do it by the fact that they said there would be baklava at the end {and there was}! It was a PERFECT morning for running...temps in the upper 60s...and I was ready to run. I am proud to say that I had a new Personal Record of 29:07 ~ a 9:23 minute per mile pace! Woo hoo!

Me & my dad after the race
Later that afternoon {after running a couple more miles on the Zionsville trails}, I went to church, then met up with TJ at one of his buddy's houses. They were finishing up their Fantasy Football draft, then we all just hung out and grilled out for dinner. After that, TJ and I ventured to HH Gregg to finally buy a new washer and dryer, although we've had some issues with delivery, etc {more on that another day}. We ended the night with a couple drinks {mmm...strawberry martini} and a piece of cheesecake {mmm....white chocolate blueberry} at Cheesecake Factory. Yum!

Sunday: It was another beautiful day, so after breakfast, reading the paper, and clipping coupons, TJ and I went downtown to walk {and run a bit} on the canal. Just awesome and so relaxing.

I hope you all had a good weekend....tomorrow's Wednesday already...almost over the hump!

{almost} Wordless Wednesday

Couldn't resist snapping a few pics on my way home last night. I love pictures like this where the sun shines through the clouds...I feel like it's God shining down from heaven.

Enjoy.

Happy Wednesday, y'all~

Tasty Tuesday {Indiana State Fair}

This past Sunday, TJ and I ventured to the Indiana State Fair. It's something we like to do every year to look at the animals and other exhibits, but our main draw is the food. Oh, the food. We definitely ate our way through the fair this year, but we saw a few other things too. :)

Us on the train from Fishers down to the Fairgrounds

Lots of cool cars on the main street

First up on our food tour...a JUMBO turkey leg!

TJ chowing down

And....check! Very yummy

Next up: a plate full of potatoes and cheese...can't go wrong with that

TJ and his Midway sign halo

Goats

More goats

This guy makes me laugh

Donkey

I think more goats?

Had to get milkshakes from the Dairy Bar

These Chinese Acrobats were amazing

This guy was just insane

Those are chairs on top of 4 bottles on a table...and he's at the top

Totally nuts.

I had to hold my breath

All of them on one bike

A look onto the infield to where the accident happened

The Sugarland trailer is still there

Don't forget your deep fried butter!

One last stop before heading home: Ribeye sandwich, a lemonade shake-up, and a water
We had a good time this year, even if it was the last day for the fair. Can't wait for next year!

T is for Tuesday...and Three is Better than One!

On Sunday, TJ, my parents, and I had been thinking of going to the State Fair, but after everything that happened Saturday night, the fair was closed so that wasn't an option. {see my post from Monday for more info.} I ended up getting some things done around the house in the morning {including spending a couple hours going through all my coupons}, then my mom and I went out to the mall in the afternoon. All I really needed was some new MAC makeup, but I found some REALLY good deals at Nine West that I just couldn't pass up.

Super cute gray pumps...and really comfortable too!

Black peep-toe wedges

I couldn't NOT get these fun flower print shoes!
I got all three pairs for $73
I love a good deal!

Pour Some Sugar on Me!

Friday marked our second in a series of three summer concerts: Heart & Def Leppard! It was another beautiful night {and less humid than last Saturday}, so we took the opportunity to do a little tailgating before the concert started. Once again, we went with TJ's sister, Tiffany, and her husband, Matt. Here are some pics.... {sorry for the poor quality of my iPhone camera}

TJ being...well...TJ

The lawn starting to fill up

Do you sense a theme here???

In pretty much the exact same spot as last weekend

Awesome sunset!

Finally a semi-decent picture

Saturday night, I got to hang out with some of my high school friends, which is always fun and entertaining. It was great to see everyone, and it's certainly always a good time. However, the evening was kind of overshadowed by the tragedy at our Indiana State Fair. If you haven't seen the video, you have to watch it...it's simply bone-chilling. Five people died and 40-some people were injured. It's so sad that this happened, but it has been amazing to hear the stories of all the people that came together to help those that were hurt. It's good to know that there are still a lot of good samaritans out there that will go out of their way {and even in the way of danger} to help another person out.

Please say an extra prayer tonight for all those people and their families.
