Liam Grows {6 Months}

6 Months
{as of 12.13.13}

I can't believe Liam's 6 month birthday has come and gone already! The past month has been a lot of fun, and I have a feeling the next couple months will be even better! Here's what happened last month...

6 month stats:
weight: 16lb 15oz {39th percentile}
length: 26.5 in {44th percentile}
head circumference: {39th percentile}

Clothes:
Quite a range...Liam can still fit into some 3-6 month stuff, but we mostly wear 6 mo, 6-9 mo, 9 mo, and a lot of 6-12 month stuff from Gap/Old Navy. For his jammies, he's wearing 6 or 9 month sleepers. Size 3 diapers fit him perfectly.

I've been buying the majority of his stuff from Old Navy, Gap, and Target with a few things from Gymboree thrown in there. I'm pretty much over all the cute-sy animal stuff from Carters, etc...I prefer to dress him like a little man. :) I've got to start him dressing in style early! Especially after Christmas, he's got clothes out the wazoo...he'll never even get to wear half the stuff!

Health:
Good except for the last week...he got his first cold. :( He's been congested and coughing, which has led to not-so-good eating and sleeping. Not fun when I actually have time off and my baby isn't feeling well.

Liam still spits up some, but it has gotten dramatically better over the past month {thank goodness!}. He also has dry, sensitive skin {what baby doesn't}, but I have a feeling that some of his is due to eczema. Following in his daddy's footsteps...

Diet:
I can officially say that I exclusively breastfed Liam for his first 6 months! Little man didn't have a drop or bite of anything other than mama's milk until December 13. :) I am so grateful that I have been able to provide for Liam in this way...I know not all women have an easy time with breastfeeding, and although it's been relatively easy for me, it is still so time-consuming, especially with being a working mama.

We started solids on December 13, and we have attempted Baby Led Weaning over the last few weeks. It has been more slow-going than I would like, but with working late some nights and the craziness of the holidays, we just haven't had the time to offer him many solids. So far, Liam has tried pumpkin, avocado. pear, banana, and oatmeal, but avocado definitely seems to be his favorite of the bunch. I am taking a rather conservative approach to it all because Liam tends to shove big pieces in his mouth. I know that is all part of the learning process, but it makes this doctor mama a bit nervous. :-/ It has been fun watching him explore food in this way. Some of the faces he makes are priceless!

Sleep:
So-so. I'd say he's sleeping through the night at least 50% of the time, and the nights that he wakes up, it's usually around 4am. I attribute his sleep troubles to teething, being sick, and us pushing him past his limits. I know he would prefer to be in bed between 7 and 730, but that has proved to be extremely challenging, considering there are some nights that I don't get home from work till then. I'm still trying to figure out what I need to do to extend his sleep...

Likes:

His Jumperoo

Crying:
Liam is generally a happy guy, but he sometimes gets fussy in the evening when he's just done for the day. We have a tendency to push him past his limit {bad, I know, but somewhat inevitable with our work schedules}, and he definitely lets us know.

Postpartum:
6 months and I am back at my pre-baby weight! Woo hoo! However, this body is still not what it was before Liam...my goal for the new year is to get back into running shape, tone up, and lose another 10-15lbs!

My sweet Liam,
I can't believe you are half way to your first birthday. It seems like you learn something new everyday, not to mention get even cuter everyday. Your smile is so contagious, and your laugh is heart-warming...you are just the sweetest! I am loving this stage with you...you are so interactive and your personality is really starting to show. I'm sure this next month will bring more excitement and challenges as you start to become more mobile and I'm chasing you around the house.

I am so blessed to be your mama, sweet boy. I love you with all my heart!

Love always,
your mama :)
